French Drain Installation in Dallas–Fort Worth
French drain installation from Lone Star Irrigation fixes standing water without wrecking your sprinkler system. The same licensed crew trenches the drain and protects the irrigation lines it crosses.
Signs your yard needs a French drain
North Texas rain doesn’t soak in. It sits. Blackland clay sheds water like pavement once it’s saturated, and builders grade many DFW lots flatter than the soil can handle. The result is the yard you already know: a swampy strip along the fence a full day after the rain stopped, mosquitoes by June, grass roots drowning in the low spot, and: the expensive version: water creeping toward the slab.
A French drain fixes this by giving water a path: a gravel-bedded, fabric-wrapped perforated pipe that collects subsurface water and moves it somewhere harmless. A surface drain handles sheet runoff; regrading fixes a lot that slopes the wrong way. Most yards need one of the three: some need a combination. We tell you which after walking the lot, and the quote comes before any digging does.
French drains, surface drains and catch basins
Downspouts and low spots feed a catch basin, and a buried pipe carries the water across the yard to somewhere it can do no harm. Where the ground itself stays wet, a French drain does the same job underground: perforated pipe in a bed of washed gravel, wrapped in filter fabric so the soil can’t clog it.

French drains installed without sprinkler damage
- ★We know where your lines and wires run, because we’d be the ones doing the sprinkler repair if they broke. A general drainage outfit finds your sprinkler system by cutting through it.
- ★North Texas clay is the problem. Soaked-then-parched soil moves foundations. Drainage done now is cheaper than slab repair later.
- ★French drains, surface drains and regrading: matched to how water moves on your lot.
- ★Financing available through Wisetack and Klarna on drainage work.

French drain questions
How do I know if I need a French drain?
Standing water a day after rain, a soggy strip along a fence line, or water creeping toward the slab. If the yard can’t shed water on its own, a French drain gives it somewhere to go.
Can drainage problems damage my foundation?
In North Texas clay, yes: cycles of soaked and bone-dry soil move slabs. Solving standing water near the house is cheaper than foundation repair by an order of magnitude.
Will installing a French drain damage my sprinkler system?
Not when the irrigation contractor is the one digging. We know where the lines and wires run, because we’d be the ones fixing them.
Do you finance drainage work?
Yes. Wisetack and Klarna cover drainage jobs the same as irrigation work.
Give the water somewhere to go.
