How to shut off your sprinkler system

Turn the controller to OFF. If a zone keeps running, the valve is stuck: go to step 2.
Close the shut-off valve
Find the irrigation shut-off near the meter or the backflow preventer and turn it closed.

What counts as a sprinkler emergency
A burst line, a flooded yard, a zone that won’t shut off, or water running toward the foundation. If the controller can’t stop the water, treat it as an emergency: close the irrigation shut-off using the steps above, then call. Slower problems, like a soggy patch or a rising water bill, are covered by sprinkler leak detection.
